As part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week, the College of Agriculture conducted a training workshop on laboratory tests. The Animal Production Department organized the workshop, focusing on training faculty members and students in the department on various laboratory tests using scientific equipment. The three-day workshop covered aspects such as laboratory behavior and safety, familiarization with laboratory equipment and operation, and conducting blood tests and basic examinations. The workshop was facilitated by professors from the Animal Production Department, including Prof. Mohammed Abdul Amir Rashid, Dr. Mohsen Falih, Mr. Murtadha Kareem Sahar, Mr. Muheemn Abbas Abdul, Ms. Marwa Kareem, and Mr. Rasool Hassan Khallati.

It also involves evaluating selected chemical and physical properties of three different soils to understand their susceptibility to pollutants. The workshop recommends cultivating vegetables away from city centers, main roads, and factories due to their exposure to pollutants from various types of vehicles. Additionally, it suggests utilizing tree planting to reduce pollution from vehicle emissions.

Within the training course activities for the accreditation council of agricultural colleges at the Ministry of Higher Education, members of our faculty, including Prof. Dr. Nabeel Rahim Lahmood, and Assistant Professors Dr. Hasnine Taher Kareem and Hasan Hadi Faraj, actively participated in the technical and practical application of the evaluation process at the College of Agricultural Engineering, University of Baghdad. The training involved 36 members of the national evaluation team and the council’s president and members. The team received commendation for their technical and administrative work during the simulated evaluation process, with the results presented by the council to achieve accreditation implementation.

As part of the inspection tours of agricultural facilities, Assistant Professor Dr. Hakim Sultan Abdul-Rikabi, along with Administrative Assistant Dr. Nasir Fahim Yasser, directly supervised fieldwork in the plastic houses at our college. They monitored the production stages of green crops (bell peppers and eggplants), ensured the provision of essential supplies for crop growth, and emphasized timely service operations to minimize the risk of various diseases. The inspection also focused on conducting pest control operations at appropriate timings to reduce damage from pathogenic agents affecting crops within the plastic houses. Additionally, they addressed fieldwork challenges and instructed the provision of necessary resources for cultivating specific crops.
