The College of Agriculture at Wasit University organized a training course titled “Introduction to Statistical Analysis using R-Project.”
The course, conducted by Dr. Murtadha and Dr. Ali Jawad, covered the installation of the R program on Windows and Mac computers, as well as the installation of R Studio. The lecture addressed the installation of program packages and the process of importing data from Excel into R. It also discussed changing the work directory to consolidate analysis results and how to use installed packages within the program.
The session demonstrated the creation of various plots, such as histograms, box plots, and line curves, using pre-existing commands in the program or by installing the ggplot2 library. Finally, the lecture covered data preparation within the R program for statistical analysis, illustrating the analysis of Completely Random Design (CRD) and reviewing its results.

Assistant Professor Hassanein Taher Karim from the Department of Plant Protection at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University of Wasit, participated in the examination committee for the doctoral thesis of Hamza Abbas Yasser Sultan from the University of Wasit / College of Science. The thesis focused on the compatibility between entomopathogenic nematodes (Steinernema sp) and the fungus (Beauveria bassiana) in controlling the peach fruit fly (Bactrocera zonata). The discussion enriched the scientific knowledge with valuable and insightful information. The thesis recommended the use of biopesticides instead of chemical ones, as they demonstrated excellent and sustainable results in environmental insect control.
